Neurotoxin Instructions
BEFORE TREATMENT
Avoid over-the-counter blood-thinning medications/supplements for a couple of days prior, such as ibuprofen (e.g., Advil, Motrin), naproxen (e.g., Aleve), St. John’s wort, gingko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, omega-3s, and vitamin E.
Stay on any medically-indicated blood thinners, but consult with your provider ahead of time or day of the procedure.
Do not drink alcoholic beverages on the day of the procedure.
Arrive with a clean face. Please wash your face prior to your appointment.
If you have a history of cold sores, notify your provider. Start an antiviral medication (e.g., Valtrex) 3 days prior to your appointment to prevent an outbreak.
Do not use neurotoxins if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an allergy to any of the ingredients, or suffer from neurological disorders.
AFTER TREATMENT
Stay upright for at least 4 hours following your treatment.
Avoid any massage or pressure to treatment area(s) for 4-6 hours as this may alter the placement of the neurotoxin.
Avoid wearing hats, headbands, or tight headwear if the forehead was treated.
If you would like to reapply makeup, do so gently over the treatment area(s).
Refrain from heavy exercise, hot showers, saunas, or any activities that cause sweating or increased circulation for 24 hours.
Avoid facials, peels, microneedling, or lasers for at least 7 days post-treatment.
Optimal results are in 14 days. Wait at least 14 days after your injections to start to evaluate the success of the treatment. You are encouraged to come in for an assessment and touch up between day 14 and 21 days after your treatment.
